Member of the Australian Weightlifting Federation

Weightlifting for all ages and skill levels.

Welcome to Weightlifting ACT.

Weightlifting ACT is the ACT member of the Australian Weightlifting Federation Ltd and is managed by the WACT Committee. Our purpose is to represent the interests of the Association as a State Member of the AWF and, in cooperation with the AWF and other AWF State Members, to coordinate, promote and provide for the participation of Association members, coaches, and officials in approved local, State, National, and International weightlifting competitions.

New to weightlifting?

01 — Want to get involved in weightlifting?

Getting started is easy, just contact your local club to find out how. You will be guided by coaches that can introduce you to the basics of weightlifting. Weightlifting is open to all ages and abilities and you can progress at your own pace. If you’re unsure where to begin just contact us here to find out what it's all about.

02 — Want to become a qualified referee or develop your skills as a technical official?

Referees and technical officials are vital to the successful running of weightlifting events. Each competition requires officials to record athletes’ weigh-in, act as competition director, chief marshal, timekeeper, speaker, technical controllers, referees, and a range of additional supporting officials and volunteers.

03 — Interested in doing a course?

The Australian Weightlifting Federation runs a number of courses throughout the year which are suitable for those new to the sport or for people who are experienced and want to increase their knowledge and improve their skills as technical officials. More information is available on the AWF website.

04 — Want to volunteer?

WACT are always looking for volunteers. Without the commitment, effort, and contributions of all our volunteers, WACT wouldn’t be able to conduct the weightlifting events that we hold each year. Whatever your background or interests, there are a range of activities and opportunities for you to get involved with WACT. Please contact us to register your interest.

Compete at local, state, national, and international levels.

Weightlifting ACT seeks to provide as many opportunities as possible for individuals to participate in the sport of weightlifting within the Canberra region.
